Materials free to use

Visit Porvoo has updated its guidelines for the use of tourism marketing images. Check out the new guidelines here.

Communicating Accessibility

Accessibility information is important for visitors as it allows them to plan their visit and ensures that all visitors can enjoy the destination or company services safely and comfortably. This information helps reduce barriers and promotes equality and inclusivity.

Based on the survey conducted from October to December 2024, the Accessibility page has been compiled with information for consumers about the accessibility of popular attractions in Porvoo. The survey focused on the accessibility of the sites from the perspective of visitors with mobility impairments, but also aimed to consider visual and hearing impairments. The survey was conducted by an accessibility surveyor and an expert by experience from the Finnish Association of People with Physical Disabilities.

At the same time, materials were also produced for Porvoo businesses to use in publishing their own accessibility information. The most important thing is not perfection but open and honest communication.

  • Utilizing DataHub is free for both tourism companies and data users.
  • The requirement is that the company’s website is available in English.

Sustainable Travel Finland

The Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) program developed by Visit Finland is a tool for sustainable tourism that encourages and helps Finnish tourism companies develop sustainable practices. Companies that complete the STF program are awarded the STF label. Visit Porvoo encourages local tourism companies to develop sustainable tourism by supporting participation in the STF program.

CNE 2.0

Did you know that investments in sustainability improve companies’ profitability and resilience? Or that customer satisfaction and perceived quality are higher in companies that operate responsibly? Carbon Neutral Experience 2.0 promotes carbon neutrality in the domestic tourism, restaurant, and event sectors in Uusimaa to achieve its goals by 2030. At the same time, it guides and supports companies in transitioning towards profitable and sustainable business practices.

Inclusivity

We want to ensure a safe travel experience and unforgettable adventure for all visitors to the area, making rainbow travelers want to return to the city again and again.

South by Cycle and Welcome Cyclist Badge

South by Cycle is a network of routes designed for touring cycling in Southern Finland.

The Welcome Cyclist badge is designed to make life easier for cyclists when looking for places and services where cyclists are welcome. Companies can join the Welcome Cyclist program by offering cyclist-friendly services that make bike travel smooth and effortless.

The Welcome Cyclist badge can be applied for by accommodation services, restaurants, cafes, bike rentals, bike repairs, visitor attractions, buses, taxis, and bike ferries and boats. Companies that receive the badge are included on the Bikeland cycling tourism map and benefit from the joint marketing of cycling tourism in Finland. The badge can also be added to the company’s product card in Visit Finland’s DataHub. Starting from April 2025, the annual fee for the Welcome Cyclist program is 45 euros.

Visit Porvoo supports the use of low-emission modes of transport and recognizes cyclists as a growing tourist group that often uses local services and stays along their route.

FAM, Media, and Influencer Collaborations

A familiarization trip (FAM trip) is a business initiative where Porvoo as a region or a Porvoo-based company showcases its operations and services to tour operators, i.e., potential B2B customers. A FAM trip is an important marketing tool for Porvoo, as it gives tour operators the opportunity to experience real customer experiences, based on which they can recommend experiences to their own customers.
